Guaranty Building
Guaranty Building
28 Church Street
Buffalo, NY 14202
Built by famed architect Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler, the Guaranty or Prudential Building is internationally recognized as one of the first skyscrapers in the world. Its sister building is the Wainwright Building in St. Louis. Both buildings used steel framed construction, a revolutionary building material at the time. The façade is covered with terracotta tiles, ornate foliage and geometric designs. In the early 1980s the building was restored after a massive community effort was made to raise enough money.
