Public Relations:
The Marketing Department provides communication
and marketing support in the form of press releases,
press conferences, informational brochures and
other communication pieces. We provide this
support to various departments, including Operations,
Security and the Buffalo Place Ranger
Program.
Materials that the Marketing Department
produces
include the “Downtown Map & Directory,”
the
“Downtown Buffalo Calendar of Events,” the“Rotary
Rink Ice Skating Brochure,” and the Buffalo
Place
“Ranger Program Brochure.” Additionally, the
Marketing Department publishes annual palm
card/pocket schedules for all of the Buffalo Place
events, including the Thursday at the Square and
Buffalo Place Rocks the Harbor concert series and the Downtown Country Market.
Originally launched in 1998, the Buffalo Place website (buffaloplace.com) was re-designed in 2002. In 2003, we began training for website design and development with the goal of internalizing the Buffalo Place internet function. The long-term goal of internalizing this function was to create a more user-friendly, interactive site. The Marketing Department currently maintains the website as a conduit for communicating with businesses, tenants and visitors to Downtown Buffalo. In 2004, we completely re-designed the site and internalized all website functions.
The Marketing Department continues to produce the “E-Report,” our weekly on-line newsletter. We circulate this interactive piece weekly to more than 11,000 Downtown businesses, government officials, residents, friends of Downtown, fellow Downtown associations throughout the country and local media outlets. The “E-Report” allows Buffalo Place to conduct more in-depth reporting on important issues and initiatives in a more timely and efficient manner, while positioning Buffalo Place as the premier Downtown organization.
Non-Buffalo Place-produced events are held in Downtown Buffalo annually. Buffalo Place works with the local organizers to provide many support services, ranging from setup to marketing and promoting the events. These events include The Gus Macker Basketball Tournament, the Taste of Buffalo, Curtain Up!, the Buffalo Ball Drop, World’s Largest Disco and American Diabetes Association Walk for Diabetes.
