The Tragically Hip at Buffalo Place Rocks the Harbor - SOLD OUT
July 30, 2011
This show is now sold out.
Buffalo Place, in association with Buffalo-based concert promotion company Funtime Presents, are proud to bring Canada's legendary rock quintet The Tragically Hip with special guest the Arkells to the Erie Canal Harbor Central Wharf on Saturday, July 30th as part of the 2011 Buffalo Place Rocks the Harbor Concert Series, presented by M&T Bank. Funtime Present's Artie Kwitchoff and Donny Kutzbach, who returned to work with Buffalo Place to book their concerts, have worked with the band on their recent Western New York tour stops. The band was looking to do something different and special in Western New York in 2011 and Funtime insisted the Erie Canal Harbor Central Wharf was the right fit. “It's exciting to not only mark 2011 as Funtime's return to working with Buffalo Place but additionally to be able to have something as exciting as The Tragically Hip in Downtown Buffalo as a part of it,” says Artie Kwitchoff. In addition to their 2011 Summer Tour, which will make stops in Canada and the US, The Tragically Hip are working on material for their 13th studio album.
The Tragically Hip and the Arkells join the 2011 Buffalo Place Rocks the Harbor schedule, which also includes Dark Star Orchestra and Soulive on Friday, June 24th, Elvis Costello & The Imposters on Saturday, June 25th, Alice Cooper and Anvil on Friday, August 26th and Great Big Sea and Martin Sexton on Saturday, August 27th. No coolers or alcoholic beverages will be allowed onto the concert grounds. Food, beer, wine coolers and soft drinks will be available for purchase.
Originally launched in 1998 as a celebration of Buffalo’s Inner Harbor Redevelopment Project, past performers such as Violent Femmes, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Hootie & The Blowfish, Herbie Hancock, The Black Crowes, Bruce Hornsby and O.A.R. have rocked the harbor. The event is part of the Buffalo Place Summer Concert Series, which includes Thursday at the Square. These events draw record crowds into Downtown Buffalo and create spin-off business for bars, restaurants and dance clubs.
For the thirteenth consecutive year, M&T Bank is the Presenting Sponsor of the Summer Concert Series. Once again, Labatt Blue Light is the Featured Act Sponsor and official beer of the 2011 Summer Concert Series. Supporting Act Sponsors include Try-It Distributing, Coca-Cola and The Buffalo News - Gusto. Wardynski’s, BW’s Barbecue and Just Pizza are the Warm-Up Act Sponsors.
