Description:

The Irish Classical Theatre Company will present The Lonesome West, a black comedy by English-born Irish playwright, filmmaker and screenwriter Martin McDonagh through March 28, 2010.  In this dark and savage comedy set in a small and godforsaken Irish village, a pair of warring brothers live to torment one another.  Following their father’s death in a shotgun “accident,” fueled by pride and poteen, their vicious baiting and violent brawls are merciless and unrelenting.  The parish priest, alcoholic and suicidal for reasons of his own, entreats the brothers to reconcile as their squabbling spirals into comedy and chaos.  The Lonesome West is considered part of McDonagh’s Leenane Trilogy which also includes The Beauty Queen of Leenane (1996) and A Skull in Connemara (1997).
