- Citizen Cope is Clarence Greenwood, an acoustic singer-songwriter. He serves as the keyboardist, guitarist, lead singer, DJ, songwriter and producer.
- Greenwood’s musical career began in the mid -1990’s when his songwriting and unique blending drew local praise.
- In 1992, Greenwood released his first album, Cope Citizen. Throughout the next few years he appeared on several soundtracks to movies and other compilations.
- After being signed with Dreamworks in 2000, the self-titled album, Citizen Cope, was released two years later. Greenwood promoted the album with a tour along side Nelly Furtado. That same year he performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
- Citizen Cope’s third record came in 2004 with the release of The Clarence Greenwood Recordings. The single, “Son’s Gonna Rise,” was used in a GM Pontiac commercial.
- The 2006, release of Every Waking Moment peaked at #69 on Billboards 200 chart.
- During the next few years Citizen Cope hit the road and sold more than 100,000 tickets to festivals and performed at over 120 shows.
- Citizen Cope’s most recent release, The Rainwater LP, has had numerous tracks featured in films, television series and advertisements.
- Currently Citizen Cope is on tour proving that he is an astonishing and charismatic live performer. He is committed to the road and has been winning over America city by city.

- In 2002 The Washington Post called Citizen Cope “the City’s most soulful export since Marvin Gaye”
- Greenwood wrote and produced a track on Carlos Santana’s Shaman album
