James Knox Taylor, official architect of the United States Treasury, designed this beautiful granite structure in Flemish Gothic style. Built in 1894, the building has an impressive light court surrounded by four floors of beautiful arched galleries. The complex was originally designed to house government agencies but over the years many of those services were relocated. It also served for many years as the Main Post Office. In 1981, after years of rehabilitation, the building was reopened as the Downtown Campus of Erie Community College. This building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
