Eileen Ivers
- Eileen Ivers is an Irish-American fiddle musician and the original musical star of Riverdance.
- Ivers grew up in the Bronx and is the daughter of Irish-born parents. She spent summers in Ireland and began to play the fiddle at the age of eight. She has won nine All-Ireland fiddle championships and over 30 championship medals.
- After graduating from Iona University, Ivers turned her attention to fiddling full-time. She performed with Mick Moloney and Seamus Egan and formed the group Green Field of America.
- Ivers joined a year-long tour with the Hall and Oates Band that played to stadium-sized audiences. Ivers then joined the band Paddy A Go Go with Chris Byrne of Black 47.
- During the early 1990’s Ivers co-founded the Irish-American Celtic group, Cherish the Ladies.
- In 1995, when original fiddler, Maire Bhreathnach, announced she was leaving the cast of Riverdance, Ivers took over. She performed solos during the performances and gained great fame for Riverdance. Ivers continues to perform as a cast member of the show.
- Ivers has been called by the Washing Post, “the future of the Celtic fiddle.”
- Ivers has shared the stage with two of the world’s most celebrated violinists, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and Regina Cater. They collaborated for the critically acclaimed show, Fiddlers Three.
