J. Edward Nash was the pastor of the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church from 1892 until his retirement in 1953. Rev. Nash's leadership and presence in Buffalo's African-American community during 50 years of the 20th century earned him legendary status in the community. Rev. Nash wrote many sermons and letters in his study at 36 Nash Street. Those letters and sermons play an integral part of Buffalo's African-American community history.
