Jonny Lang
- Jonny Lang is an American blues, gospel rock singer and songwriter. He is a Grammy Award winner and notable for his unusual voice and guitar solos.
- At the age of twelve, Lang’s father took him to see the Bad Medicine Blues Band in Fargo, North Dakota. Soon after, Lang began taking guitar lessons with Ted Larsen of the Bad Medicine Blues Band. After mastering the guitar, Lang joined the band, which was then renamed Kid Jonny Lang & The Big Bang.
- After moving to Minneapolis in 1995, Lang and the band independently released the album Smokin. Lang was only 14 years old at the time. This record introduced him as a promising young blues artist.
- A year later Lang singed with A&M Records and in 1997 he released the critically acclaimed multi-platinum Lie to Me. The album, which turned platinum, resulted in Time Magazine calling Lang “one of the most important artists to watch in the next millennium.”
- Lang’s next album, released in 1998, Wander This World, earned him his first Grammy nomination.
- Long Time Coming was released in 2003 and showed a more soulful side.
- In 2006, Lang won his first Grammy Award for the gospel-influenced album, Turn Around. The Grammy was for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album.
- Throughout the years, Lang has toured with the likes of Rolling Stones, Buddy Guy, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Blues Traveler and Sting.
