moe.
- moe. is, Al Schnier (guitar, vocals), Rob Derhak (bass, vocals), Chuck Garvey (guitar, vocals), Vinnie Amico (drums) and Jim Loughlin (percussion, acoustic guitar).
- moe. formed in 1991 at the University at Buffalo. The band moved to Albany, then New York City and now lives throughout the Northeast. Their name is derived from the old Louis Jordan tune “Five Guys Named Moe.”
- moe. is a band that has earned their reputation as a jam band. Having released more than 18 cd’s and owning their own record label, the band has proven itself to critics and fans alike.
- moe. has been a presence at four Bonnaroo Music Festivals and have held the stage in front of a crowd of 90,000. In addition to headlining festivals, moe. hosts three of their own: moe.down, snoe.down and moe.cruise.
- Another accolade that speaks to the band’s continued success is its award of three Jammy’s and a Jammy nomination in 2005. The Jammy Awards were for Best Live Album, another for Best Live Set (for their appearance at Bonnaroo Music Festival) and for Best Studio Album,Wormwood. In 2006, moe. was also recognized with a Jammy for Best Live Performance of the Year (Tsunami Relief Benefit). The band performed at the 2006 Jammy Awards.
- 1996 brought the band their first major label debut and the album No Doy sold over 65,000 copies.
- Further accolades came with the release of Dither in 2001, it received 4 stars in Rolling Stone Magazine.
- Their album Wormwood released in 2003, received four stars in Blender Magazine.
- In March 2004, moe. hosted their first musical cruise aboard the Norwegian Sun. They performed for their fans every night but one. moe.cruise took place again in 2007 and experienced similar success.
- moe. hosted snoe.down in March of 2006 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York. Event goers could ice skate while listening to the show. Bands included Soulive, Everyone Orchestra, Assembly of Dust and Tea Leaf Green.
- Released in early 2007, The Conch (the title comes from the novel Lord of the Flies), received four stars in Rolling Stone Magazine. moe. embarked on an international tour in 2007. The Conch reached #1 on Billboards Top Hitseekers Chart in 2007.
- In 2008, moe. released the album Sticks and Stones. The album hit #2 on Billboards Top Hitseekers Chart that same year.
- 2010 marks moe.’s 20th anniversary and the group shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. They have embarked on a lengthy tour for 2010. To cap off their anniversary year moe. will be hosting a tropical throe.down, a vacation in the Domican Republic in January 2011 for the and band and their fans.
