Buffalo entertainment pioneer Michael Shea and opened on January 16, 1926. Cornelius and George Rapp, who were among the most important and influential architects of that period designed the building. Shea’s is considered one of the finest examples of great movie palaces of the era. Its classic styling boasts an opulent baroque interior, featuring Italian marble and Czechoslovakian crystal chandeliers by Tiffany. The theatre cost $33 million to build and features a pit orchestra and theatre organ. Shea's Performing Arts Center is located in Downtown Buffalo's Theatre District and hosts touring Broadway productions, Opera, Concerts, Comedy and an Annual Film Series. This building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
