ABOUT

Buffalo Place is dedicated to improving the economic health and quality of life in Downtown Buffalo.

Founded in 1982 and organized as a nonprofit, Buffalo Place is the brainchild of property owners and political leaders interested in reviving the 24-block business improvement district we consider Downtown. Since then, Buffalo Place has been charged with oversight of this Downtown core.

Our activities are partially funded by special charges paid over and above property taxes within the Downtown district, which is bounded by Main, Pearl, and Washington Streets from Goodell Street to the Buffalo River.

Some constituent properties include Seneca One Tower, Main Place Mall, HARBORCENTER, Hyatt Regency Buffalo, M&T Plaza, M&T Center, 40-50 Fountain Plaza, Ellicott Square, One Canalside, the Brisbane Building, and the majority of Downtown’s large office buildings. Buffalo Place’s annual budget is 2.5 million dollars, 71% of which comes from the special charge paid by Downtown property owners. Eight percent is generated by our marketing and special events initiatives. Our property owners have a substantial investment in Downtown and are committed to Downtown’s success. We strive to make Downtown Buffalo clean, safe, and fun.
